Plymouth Borough has been made aware of a phone scam targeting local residents. Callers claiming to be from a pharmacy are contacting individuals and asking them to verify prescriptions, as well as provide Medicare, insurance, and other personal information.
Please be advised:
- Do NOT share any personal, medical, or financial information over the phone unless you are 100% certain of the caller’s identity.
- Legitimate pharmacies will not ask for sensitive information out of the blue.
- If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and report it.
To protect yourself:
- Never give out your Medicare number or insurance details to unsolicited callers.
- Verify any calls by contacting your pharmacy directly using the phone number on your prescription bottle or their official website.
- Report scams to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov or call 1-877-FTC-HELP.
Please share this information with friends and family, especially seniors who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.
